BEFORE THE SESSION
Prior to your session, we will discuss in detail what kind of portraits you would like to capture (lifestyle, candids, formal, or a mix) as well as the preferred location for your photo session (your home, my studio, a local park, or another location of your choice).
Please make sure children are well rested and fed before your session. Except for newborns, try not to schedule a session during your child’s normal nap time or at a time when your child might be tired or overstimulated. With newborns, it is actually preferable that they sleep, so it’s best to schedule their sessions to start immediately following a feeding.
DURING THE SESSION
My lifestyle portrait sessions typically last from 1 to 2 hours. I never rush my clients. As a boutique photographer, I only accept a limited number of sessions. This allows me to take as much time as we need to make sure you and your family can relax and I can capture memorable photographs.
When photographing babies and small children, it is most important to keep them comfortable and happy. Feeding and snuggle breaks are encouraged throughout the photo shoot. Please keep in mind that a successful newborn session might last as long as 3 hours.
Please avoid pressuring your kids to say “cheese,” or any threats/punishment to get them to smile. My goal is for them to have a good time just being a kid, and in that capacity I will have a better chance to capture their individual personality.
Parents are welcome to step back and let the children interact with me. From my experience, I have found that encouraging positive behavior works much better than threats. Please set realistic expectations for your children, depending on their individual temperament, energy level, and attention span.
AFTER THE SESSION
Your Raw images may be previewed immediately following your session, giving you an opportunity to select your favorites. Or if you prefer, I will select my favorites from the set to prepare for you. I will contact you approximately 2-4 weeks after your session to present you with a photo CD containing the set of fully edited images. You will also receive a link to an online gallery of my favorites.
TERMS OF PAYMENT
Session fees are due at the time of the session.
When purchasing the CD or prints, payment must be made in full at the time of order.
